Energy without reason - self defense as an obstacle

posted by Leila Summa

Just wanted to share some thoughts about David Bohms, “On Dialogue” book:

At some point anger/pain starts to sustain itself & becomes an energy without reason. Realising this, “the natural self-defense impulse, which we got in the jungle, has been transferred from the jungle animals to these opinions/angers.” (Bohm, 1996). So we start to defend our opinions as we would defend ourselves. This does unfortunately not allow a dialogue to take place. Because if two are right you can not lead a dialogue (i agree to David Bohms hypothesis). Thought defends its basic assumptions agains evidence, the may be wrong and this leads to a “Block, “insensitivity” or “anesthesia” about one’s own contractions. Ever experienced?

Round Table Conversation: Social Media & sCRM

posted by Leila Summa

I’m looking forward to this:

Round Table Cafe Conversation: Social Media & Customer Relations
Guided Chat about Social Media and Customer Relationships
Brighton, UK 2009
17th of July 2009, 09:30
This is a drop in session at the lovely Caffe Moksha, led by Leila Summa, expert in social media, whose session on Re-Dying at Critical Incident Brighton 2009 was very innovative.

Leila is back from Zurich (Switzerland) for a short visit and wants to invite you to join her over breakfast and drinks to share ideas about social media and customer relationships.

Social networks like facebook, twitter and blogs are now the fourth most popular online activity, ahead of personal e-mail. We are talking and sharing experiences and opinions online – not only about private things but also about products. With the rise of these social networks your comment or critique about a service can easily be spread to more and more people and can carry a lot of influence. This is a fundamental shift in customer relationship management: we – as customers - have now the power by leading simultaneous, public conversations with each other. How should companies react on this trend? Should companies participate in the social web? What kind of interaction do we expect in the digital and fast moving world we are living in?

If you are interested to share and brainstorm how social media can be used as a new dialogue channel with customers, then please join us.

The session gives you more than it costs – it’s free. The cafe is lovely.”

What about woman-ipulation?

posted by Leila Summa

Everybody is talking about manipulation,  some about  faci-pulation but what about woman-ipulation? Some definitions…

Facipulation:

  • facipulation: To use facilitation to manipulate a desired outcome. Basically it’s what consultants do. They get employees to do what their company wants them to do, while making the employee think it’s their idea. (via)
  • Or “Facipulation” - the art of facilitating with a hidden agenda.” (via)
  • “We should recognize as well that there is nothing extra clever in using facipulation, it is in many ways a last resort when we have not suceeded through the use of pure facilitation” (via)

Womanipulation:

  • “What a woman does when she needs her man to do something for her. Often involves batting eyelashes and making faces. ” (via)
  • “The Rules for “capturing the heart of Mr. Right” (via)

About effective communication

The key factor for effective communication is to listen to what isn’t being said and by answering this - fading out the unheard screams of total cluelessness. -Leila Summa”
